Katie Holmes always appears energetic, and it could be down to her morning routine.
In a new interview with WSJ Magazine, the 44-year-old explained that she has a strict routine each day, sharing: "Usually I get up around eight," before adding: "I need lots of coffee in the morning and throughout the day."
While coffee is a morning staple for the Rare Objects director, she doesn't consume anything else at the start of the day, saying: "I'm not a breakfast person and never have been."
That's not to say she doesn't enjoy other meals, adding: "I love a good lunch. I'm more of a kale salad person."
Katie certainly needs substantial fuel for her busy days, with the mom-of-one juggling multiple projects including directing and acting, as well as making time for her hobbies.

Of the first thing she does after coffee, Katie said: "I try to write out three or four pages, just to get out my thoughts and ready myself for the day. I try to start the week with something creative for myself, like a dance class or maybe I'll paint for a little bit.
"I've been painting for most of my adult life. I find it to be very soothing in between projects, and there's such a value in using your hands," she added.
Katie's daughter Suri, 16, who she shares with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, is likely to have inherited her mom's passions, with Katie saying of the teen: "My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it."
"She came out very strong – she's always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it.
"Then she's like, 'Ok, I'm going to try the next thing.' She's very focused and a hard worker."
