The 29-year-old singer shared a video on TikTok discussing recent concerns about her appearance while asserting that she is healthier than ever.

Filming the Wicked adaptation in London, Ariana faced comments from social media users about her weight and facial changes.

However, she explained that the version of her body people were comparing her to was the "unhealthiest version" and that her current state is a significant improvement for her health.

She urged for more kindness and less focus on physical appearances, even when it comes to well-intentioned compliments.

Ariana suggested fans and critics should concentrate on less superficial compliments or learn to "ignore" whatever features they dislike in her and others.

She added: "I think we should help each other work towards just being safer and keeping each other safer”.

Despite some fans' opinions, Ariana believes she is healthier now than in the past.

She said: "The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body," later revealing that she was on multiple antidepressants and consuming alcohol during that time, all while eating poorly and experiencing her life's lowest point.

Ariana emphasized that there are many different ways to be beautiful and healthy, and people should remember they don't know her personally, nor the details of her physical or mental health.

She encouraged fans and followers who experienced similar judgment about their appearance or health, stating: "You’re beautiful no matter what phase you’re in."

In an attempt to preempt inevitable criticisms, Ariana noted that she wasn't wearing eyelashes or eyeliner and asked people not to "freak out" about her face.

She ended the video by sending love to her fans, regardless of their appearance or circumstances, and wishing them a beautiful day.

In May 2021, Ariana marked Mental Health Awareness Month by advocating for ending the stigma surrounding mental health and normalizing help-seeking.

The singer has been open about her struggles with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which she developed after the tragic bombing of her 2017 concert in Manchester, England.

The attack left 23 people dead and injured over 1,000 others, deeply affecting Ariana even though she was unharmed. She subsequently addressed the experience in songs like No Tears Left to Cry and Breathing on her 2018 album Sweetener.
