Katie Holmes may have still been in the early stages of her acting career when she filmed First Daughter in 2004, but she was already taking her roles very seriously.
So committed was the actress to starring as the president's daughter accurately, that when preparing to do so, she went so far as to get some advice from a real president's daughter.
The star, who is in the midst of releasing Rare Objects (which she directed and stars in), reached out to none other than Today Show's Jenna Bush Hager to learn what it's really like to be America's first daughter.

The Today host and her twin sister Barbara Bush have all the experience one can get — as First Daughters and a First Granddaughters, too. Her father, George W. Bush, was the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009, during which she was 20 to 28 years old; her grandfather, the late George HW Bush, was 41st president from 1989 to 1993, during which they were eight to 12 years old.
Now, during an interview on the Today Show, nearly 20 years after the release of First Daughter, Jenna and Katie recalled the moment.

During the appearance, Jenna's co-host Hoda Kotb couldn't help but note that Jenna was in fact first daughter while Katie's movie was in the works, and she asked: "In your research, did you ever reach out to a young lady named Jenna Bush, and try to get a little intel?" Both Jenna and Katie quickly blushed and smiled, and the latter said: "I believe I did…"
Jenna then revealed an epic coincidence: "I was with my college roommate, we were watching Dawson's Creek, I'm not joking, I turned it off – I lived in Texas – [and said], 'Who called me from LA?' I listened to the message, and it was Katie."

However, she admitted: "I was too embarrassed [to answer]," and even told Katie: "Had you come and done research, you would have thought, 'Wow, this is quite boring,'" plus: "I never fell in love with a secret service man," which is the plot of the 2004 film.
While Jenna insisted that her life as first daughter wasn't all that, she did however confess: "I did have a friend make out with one!" resulting in hysterics from everyone around her.
