Acclaimed actor and singer Jamie Foxx was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a medical emergency, as revealed by his daughter Corinne Foxx on Wednesday.
In a statement posted to her Instagram account on behalf of the family, she disclosed that the 55-year-old Oscar winner had suffered a "medical complication" and was now on the path to recovery.
Although the family has not provided specific details about the medical issue, TMZ reported that it was indeed serious enough to warrant hospitalization.
The outlet referred to the situation as a "medical emergency" but confirmed that Jamie is now "communicating" again.
The family statement read: "We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday [Tuesday]. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery."
They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, adding: "We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."
The nature of Jamie’s condition remains undisclosed, leaving fans curious about the symptoms and circumstances that led to his hospitalization.
Jamie, known for his versatile talents in acting and music, has appeared in a variety of successful films, including Ray, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor, as well as Dreamgirls, Django Unchained, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
He has also released several music albums and gained popularity on the sketch comedy show In Living Color before starring in his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show.
Most recently, he appeared in the vampire action film Day Shift alongside Dave Franco. He is set to feature in the upcoming movie They Cloned Tyrone and will lend his voice to a canine character in the comedy Strays.
Jamie welcomed Corinne in 1994 with former partner Connie Kline. He is also father to 11-year-old daughter Anelise.
He was dating Katie Holmes for six years between 2013 and 2019.
Katie, 42, and Jamie, 53, were first linked back in 2013 – one year after her divorce from Tom Cruise.
