Pauley Perrette may have retired from acting when she left NCIS in 2018, but she seems to still be struggling with some of the downsides of fame.

The former actress' last acting gig was a 13-episode run on comedy series Broke in 2020, before which was her most known and beloved role as quirky forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on NCIS, which she starred in from 2003 – its very first year – until 2018.

Since then, she has claimed she won't be returning to the screen, but she remains active on social media. However, it is the source of her latest concern.

Pauley took to Instagram Sunday – she first joined in November of 2022 – to warn fans of an impersonation issue she has been dealing with, reminding fans to not fall for accounts claiming to be her.

Addressing her followers, she first said: "Hey you guys, it's Pauley Perrette here, or my newly minted Instagram name of @thepauleyp."

"Let's talk about the mysteries of the world," she continued, adding: "The one of late being why on Earth do people, every single day, make new fake accounts pretending to be me?! On all social media platforms but especially Instagram."

She went on: "Every day me and my friends have to go search for the new fake Pauley Perrette, the new fake Pauley P, every day."

Frustrated, she said: "The whole thing is weird and please report them, every single time you see one. @thepauleyp, this one, where you're seeing this, is the only real me," and explained: "They try to communicate with you guys as me, and it's not me, and that's not fair."

Making sure to set the record straight, she also has written on her profile bio: "It's actually ME Pauley Perrette. Just joined Instagram and have no idea what I'm doing! All other IG accounts saying they're me? FAKE, please report."

Fans were quick to reassure her in the comments that they wouldn't be falling for any spam and would report any suspicious activity, writing: "There is only one Pauley P," and: "Believe me, I will do my part! Miss seeing you on TV. Wishing you all the best!" as well as: "A lot of fake accounts only, but one Pauley!"
