Pierce Brosnan expressed his sadness in a touching tribute to Dame Edna Everage comedian, Barry Humphries after learning of his death at the age of 89.
The James Bond actor took to Instagram on Monday to pay a touching tribute to the late star, who passed away at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney on Saturday after he was admitted last week for treatment for a "serious condition" following complications from hip replacement surgery.
Alongside a smiling photo of himself and Barry, Pierce penned: "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Barry Humphries passing. He was a magnificent actor, a marvelous comedian, and outrageously brilliant as Dame Edna.
"Barry brought joy and laughter to the world. My prayers and heartfelt sympathy go out to his wife Lizzie, his family, and friends. We will miss you dear Barry, aka Dame Edna."

At the time of his death, the comedian was surrounded by his immediate family, including his wife of 30 years Lizzie Spender.
Sharing a statement, his family said: "He was completely himself until the very end, never losing his brilliant mind, his unique wit and generosity of spirit. With over 70 years on the stage, he was an entertainer to his core, touring up until the last year of his life and planning more shows that will sadly never be.
"His audiences were precious to him, and he never took them for granted. Although he may be best remembered for his work in theatre, he was a painter, author, poet, and a collector and lover of art in all its forms.
"He was also a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend and confidant to many. His passing leaves a void in so many lives. The characters he created, which brought laughter to millions, will live on."
Tributes poured in following the news of his death. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said: "A great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind, he was both gifted and a gift."
Ricky Gervais wrote on Twitter: "Farewell, Barry Humphries, you Comedy genius."
Jason Donovan wrote: "Australia has lost one of its greatest! Funny, literate and fiercely intelligent Barry Humphries was quite simply an entertaining genius. The characters he created brought laughter to millions… My thoughts are with family on this sad day!"
