Mariah Carey looked hopeful as she shared a heartfelt tribute to her late father Alfred Roy on what would have been his birthday.
The ‘Fantasy’ singer posted a photo of herself on her Instagram story holding a sunflower with the caption: “Sunflowers for Alfred Roy.. Remembering my father on his birthday.”
She mustered a smile in his memory as she looked towards the sky in the photo. She wore her usually long tresses in short curls.
Fans playing close attention would also catch a glimpse of Mariah’s beautiful house in the background with greenery.
Alfred Roy Carey was an aeronautical engineer who died of cancer in 2002. The songbird supreme reportedly had little contact with him after her parents’ divorce but she often pays tribute to him fondly.
This year would have been Alfred’s 94th birthday.
Last year she revealed that she had “lovingly restored” the car he never got to finish. She shared a photo of herself in the vintage red convertible with the caption: “Happy Birthday to you, my Father Alfred Roy Carey…The car you never got to finish is lovingly restored, complete with your spirit and my children… Sorry, I never told you, all I wanted to say,”
The sports car, with its tan interiors and retro silver rims, was an old speedster. Mariah posed inside the car holding the steering wheel, and shared photos of Moroccan and Monroe inside the car as well.
Mariah regularly shares photos with her twins, most recently posting a selfie to Instagram with the two 12-year-olds against a luxurious looking red upholstered background. In her selfie with the twins Mariah captioned the photo: “DemTWEENS taking over!!!!”
She had Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon, with whom she affectionately refers to the twins as “dem kids”. Despite their divorce, Mariah and Nick remain on amicable terms, supporting each other as parents.
