The release of Britney Spears' book 'The Woman In Me' has shocked many with its revelations about her relationship with Justin Timberlake, her family and her 13-year conservatorship. Not only is the book a major culture shock, it's already hit the bestsellers list.

But how much is the 'Toxic' superstar set to make from the release of her book?

How much money did Britney make from her book deal?

Following an intense bidding war between publishers, Britney landed a massive book deal with Simon & Schuster in February 2022. The "record breaking" deal is reportedly worth as much as $15 million.

Britney signed the book deal just three months after being released from her 13-year conservatorship. Although she had been active on social media, engaging with fans, the singer hadn't shared her full story - this book was set to be an opportunity to "provide Spears’ accounts of and commentary on her rise to fame, her music career, and her relationship with her family", a source told Variety

It's no wonder then, that less than 24 hours after her deal was announced, the unpublished book skyrocketed to the top of Amazon's best-seller list for new releases as fans pre-ordered the highly anticipated release.

What is Britney's fortune?

Early on in her career, in 2002, Forbes named her the world's most powerful celebrity with a fortune of almost $40 million, and by 2008 it was claimed she may have been worth over $200 million.

That same year Britney entered a conservatorship with her father after a public breakdown, but she continued to work and her 2009 tour The Circus Starring Britney Spears earned $131 million, her largest grossing tour ever.

In the following 13 years Britney released four more albums, and sat as a judge on TV show The X Factor, which reportedly earned her $15 million.

Her Las Vegas residency, which ran for four years between 2017 and 2021 saw her bring in a rumored $300,000 per night and an extra $35 million ($56.8m) when the deal was extended.

Court records, released in 2021 during her battle for freedom from the conservatorship, revealed however that Britney had a fortune of $60 million. After over 25 years in the spotlight, her lawyer claimed they had discovered mismanagement of Britney’s finances and they believe that she could pursue further legal action against her father Jamie.

How else has Britney made money since the end of her conservatorship?

Britney reveals in the memoir that "pushing forward in my music career is not the focus at the moment… It’s time for me not to be someone who other people want; it’s time to actually find myself."

But that hasn't stopped her from releasing two new singles,  a cover of 'Tiny Dancer' with Elton John, and 'Mind Your Business,' a duet with will.i.am.

She also signed a contract for the jukebox Broadway musical Once Upon A One More Time in early 2022 – her first post-conservatorship – that provides ongoing income from ticket sales as well as touring and licensing.
