October 26, 2023

Louise Redknapp shared a heartfelt message on Wednesday to mark the sad passing of theatre producer, Bill Kenwright CBE.

The former Eternals singer took to her Instagram account with a poster of her posing as Sally Bowles in Cabaret back in 2017, as well as a touching black and white photo of Bill. Louise donned a black bobbed wig and top hat in the image.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "I’m sad to hear the news of the passing of the great Bill Kenwright CBE [white love heart emoji].

"I’ll be forever grateful to Bill for giving me my first theatre role. He really put me through my paces in the audition process and finally gave me my dream role - the opportunity to play Miss Sally Bowles in Cabaret a role which kick-started my musical theatre career.

"Sending my love and thoughts to all his family, friends, and the team at @bklproductions [white love heart emoji] xxx." Friends and fans flocked to the comments with condolences, with a number of fans reminiscing on the performance.

"I thought of you in Cabaret when I heard about his passing. Such a fab production which you and Will Young were amazing in xxx," one fan replied.

A second added: "I loved hearing your Cabaret journey and the seminal experience it afforded you and how Bill Kenwright pushed you, will always be part of you!" Meanwhile, a third penned: "Sure you smashed the role & Bill would be smiling down at you," alongside a red love heart emoji.

Louise's performance as Sally allowed her to go on to play Violet Newstead in the 9-5 at the Savoy theatre back in 2021, Beth Gallagher in Fatal Attraction in 2022, and most recently, take over as Teen Angel in Grease at the Dominion theatre where she performed from 2 June to 29 July this year.

In November last year, she revealed she signed to a new label, BMG, and has since released a greatest hits album. On the new album was also her brand new single Supermagic, which she hinted is a glimpse of what fans can expect to be coming soon.

She penned on Instagram: "What an incredible week! Thank you all so much for all the love and support with the Greatest Hits! [Pink love heart emoji]

You have all been on this journey with me every step of the way for the last 30 years so this album is for you. Keep on enjoying it! To everyone that has streamed, downloaded, bought, and enjoyed the Greatest Hits THANK YOU! Super Magic was a little taster as to what's to come… [wink and pink heart emoji]. Love Lou Xxx."
