Alec Musser's cause of death has been determined three days after he was found dead by his fiancée Paige Press.
The late actor – who previously starred in All My Children and Grown Ups, among others – died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office revealed on Tuesday.
His fiancée had previously confirmed his passing on her Instagram account in a series of emotional tributes.
The press release reveals that Paige, who lived with Alec in their Del Mar home, knew Alec to be alive the night before his death, January 12th, but on the morning of January 13, she woke up and found him "decedent seated and slumped forward on the bathroom floor."
He had a firearm near him, as well as a gunshot wound to the chest, and paramedics subsequently declared him dead upon their arrival to the San Diego residence.
Though Paige has no posts on her Instagram account, she shared news of her fiancé's death and subsequent tributes on her Instagram Stories.
"RIP to the love of my life," she initially wrote Saturday, adding: "I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken." She also wrote in a separate post: "Today is the worst day of my life. We were so happy."

Alec, who starred as Del Henry on All My Children from 2005 to 2007, and had a scene-stealing moment on Grown Ups with the likes of Salma Hayek and Maya Rudolph, was remembered by some of his former colleagues in the wake of his passing.
Adam Sandler, who starred in and produced Grown Ups in 2010, wrote in an Instagram post: "I loved this guy. Cannot believe he is gone. Such a wonderful, funny, good man. Thinking of Alec Musser and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person."
Salma also posted a clip of the hilarious scene they shared in the comedy, and wrote: "In loving memory of Alec Musser. He was so kind, professional and absolutely hilarious. His early departure breaks my heart. I feel so blessed that I got to meet him. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones for this great loss."
Paige later reposted Salma's tribute to her Instagram Story, and wrote: "Forever my favorite movie scene. I love you so much," alongside a string of red heart emojis.
