Scarborough star Catherine Tyldesley has debuted a dramatically different new look for an upcoming role.

The Lillies actress will join former Coronation Street co-star Michelle Keegan in the seventh and final season of Brassic, making for quite the iconic reunion. Taking to Instagram, Catherine surprised fans with a set of behind-the-scenes snaps.

In the caption, she wrote: "Having a blast with gorgeous people. Soooooo good to see this gorgeous momma again @michkeegan [face holding back tears emoji] [heart emoji] [heart emoji]".

She continued: "An incredible team . Nice to be on home turf for a bit with this talented bunch!"

Catherine debuted a fabulous black wig with a fringe, a studded leather jacket, sunglasses, chunky silver rings and black nail polish.

Next to her, Michelle wore brunette hair in a half-high ponytail, a green bomber jacket and camo cargo pants as she stepped back into her beloved wild child character Erin.

Sky's hit comedy-drama Brassic is in production now, with the final season coming to air later this year.

Catherine and Michelle's friendship

The pair first co-starred on Coronation Street between 2011 and 2013, when Michelle left the show to begin to explore other jobs.

They remained incredibly close, however, and Michelle was invited to Catherine's wedding to Tom Pitfield in 2016, though she could not attend.

Though Catherine has reunited with Coronation Street co-star Shayne Ward for Channel 5's The Good Ship Murder, her appearance in Brassic marks the first time that her and Michelle have worked together since then.

The end of Brassic

Sadly, the seventh season of Brassic will be its last. The smash-hit series, created by and starring Joe Gilgun, follows a group of cash-strapped, working class friends living in the fictional northern village of Hawley.

Co-creator Danny Brocklehurst said of the show's end: "When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn’t have imagined, in our wildest dreams, that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base.

"It’s been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that Bafta."

Michelle Keegan also spoke out, saying: just for the record… Brassic has not been 'AXED' or 'cancelled'," she said, "it's come to a natural end after [six] fantastic seasons & we're currently in the middle of making the [seventh] and final season.

"Sending love to all the Brassic fans out there [heart hands emoji] [red heart emoji]."
