Amal Clooney had a movie star moment as she made her Cannes Film Festival debut on Thursday. The beautiful brunette was the epitome of Hollywood glamour as she arrived on the arm of her husband George Clooney for the premiere of his new film, Money Monster.Amal, 38, floated down the red carpet in a yellow flowing silk chiffon Atelier Versace gown that featured a thigh-high split and a train. She added a pop of colour with red lips and matching Cartier drop diamonds, completing her look with side-swept waves.

Understandably, George looked totally besotted with his wife of 19 months, and sweetly gave her a tender kiss on the cheek as they posed for cameras at the event.Joining Amal and George at the premiere were his co-stars Dominic West, Jack O'Connell, Caitriona Balfe and Julia Roberts, who wowed in a black gown that featured a plunging neckline and off-the-shoulder cap sleeves. Director Jodie Foster also opted for a black dress with intricate silver embroidery.

George takes the lead in the thriller, playing financial TV personality Lee Gates, who offers out stock advice on his hit TV show Money Monster. However, he ends up being taken hostage by a viewer, Kyle Budwell, who has lost all of his money following a bad top from Lee.

George, meanwhile, celebrated his 55th birthday just last week, and has revealed the unusual, and thoughtful, gift that he received from his wife. "We have a beautiful front lawn at our house in England and I used to mow lawns when I was a kid," he told ET Canada. "So she bought me this giant riding lawnmower that is sitting at the house right now, and I am very excited about putting that to work when I'm home."
