Comic duo Ant and Dec are normally found side-stage on Britain’s Got Talent, cheering on nervous contestants in the hit family show. But Saturday saw the pair take on a judging role, when they decided to hit the golden buzzer for one act which had them in hysterics! The presenters adored Matt Edwards’ wacky magic act so much that they couldn’t resist hitting that gleaming buzzer, which sends a lucky contestants straight through to the semi-finals of the show.
Ant and Dec loved magician Matt Edwards
All four judges were in stitches laughing at Matt’s comical act which featured a combination of clowning around and magic tricks. “We were laughing so hard we almost peed ourselves!” said Ant of the hilarious routine. Matt, 34, from Suffolk, looked astonished when the hosts hit the golden buzzer for him at the end of his act and golden confetti fell around him. He said of his particular brand of magic: “I think what makes me different from other magicians is the type of magic I perform isn’t sleight of hand. It’s a little bit crazy, it’s a little bit variety.”
On the show’s Twitter page, there were plenty of compliments for the magician. One fan wrote: “Cooper & Lee Evans all in one. Well deserved.” While another follower of the show said: “We were blessed to be in the live audience. We were blown away, almost fell off out chairs.” Over on the BGT Instagram page, more viewers were raving about Matt. One fan revealed she had seen Matt perform before, writing: “Matt is amazing. He was an act at Park Resorts Kidwelly last year when I took my girls for a mid-week break. He asked me on stage and the show he produced was side splittingly funny.” She continued: “I sat on stage with him for about 20 mins and watched really closely to see how he did his tricks, but couldn't see and his magic/comedy element combined was incredible. I will be voting Matt.”
