As excitement steadily begins to build following this year's Oscars gala, film fans have been given a preview of the sumptuous treats which will be served at the exclusive Governor's Ball which follows the ceremony. For the 17th year in a row, Austrian-American super-chef Wolfgang Puck has been chosen to cook the all important food at this year’s Academy Awards’ post-show dinner.

The culinary whiz will be working alongside his pastry chef, Sherry Yard, creating a series of intricate dishes – even an edible ‘Oscar’ statue made from Valhrona chocolate coated in gold dust for the 1500 strong crowd. Guests will be treated to an incredible series of canapés, kicking off with sushi and shellfish, followed by a range of hors-d’oeuvres inspired by sunny California.

Among them are Taro root tacos with smoked lobster, avocado and pickled jalapeno. Also on the menu will be regular favourites such as smoked salmon Oscars. Once sat for the main event, the celebrity invitees will dine on a range of Wolfgang’s signature salads, dover sole and vegetable paella – taking inspiration from Latin flavours. To finish, the guests will be treated to desserts created by Sherry Yard.

"Celebrating the past, present and future of the industry and the Academy, the Governors Ball is always an unforgettable experience," says Wolfgang. "Our goal each year is to honour Hollywood’s brightest stars and most accomplished artists with a culinary masterpiece. Only the finest ingredients and flavours will do."
