The clink of two champagne glasses is the perfect way to begin celebrations with your Valentine on February 14. And as Valentine’s Day is shared between just the two of you, you have a great excuse to splash out on a brilliant bottle. Taittinger Champagne is world-renowned - James Bond has a taste for it and it is served in some of the world’s swishest nightspots such as London's Café Royal, The Ledbury and Novikov.

Despite their fame and success their wine is still produced in a romantic, small-scale way. Compared to other top houses, Taittinger is medium-sized, harvesting 288 hectares, but it is the only one owned and managed by the family whose name is on the label. It is the BAFTA's official Champagne. On February 10, stars will be toasting their successes with Champagne made specially for the event.

Vitalie Taittinger, Artistic Director, suggests how to celebrate on February 14: “I would definitely have a bottle of Prestige Rosé. To me, this wine is like a marvellous kiss. You can feel the generosity of the fruit and the bite of the Chardonnay.“I would probably pair it with poached salmon and cranberry marmalade, sweet potatoes and crispy peas with bacon.” Luxury seafood sets the mood and ingredients known for their aphrodisiacal qualities are fantastic accompaniments to Champagne.Vitalie explained: “I love our top cuvée, Comtés de Champagnes, with lightly cooked lobster or Les Folies de la Marquetterie, which is a Non Vintage Brut with pigeon served pink with little crispy vegetables. “The Champagne Blanc des Blancs or Prelude Grand Cru are perfectly matched to truffles or oysters.“Although chocolate is often paired with Champagne it is a difficult match –but something like white chocolate mousse with raspberries can work with the Prestige Rosé.”
