Amanda Holden has taken part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the largest cake sculpture to raise money for Make-A-Wish UK.

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEOThe actress and TV presenter, who is currently stepping in for Holly Willoughby on ITV's This Morning, took time out of her busy schedule to cut the first slice of the giant cake – which stands at an incredible 12metres by 10metres – on Friday morning at Westfield Shepherds Bush shopping centre in London's Hammersmith.

The blonde beauty said: "As a patron of Make-A-Wish it is a charity that is dear to my heart and does such wonderful things for truly deserving children and young people. "This GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt has the potential to raise a huge amount of money for the charity which will be used to help grant more magical wishes."

To break the record, the entire cake – which was made in slabs that were laid side by side and has buttercream icing on top – must be eaten. The suggested donation of £1 to be given for each of the 12,000 slices eaten will go directly to Make-A-Wish.

The epic challenge, undertaken by Fairy, supports the annual fundraising effort by its partner Make-A-Wish, the charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Should the cake be completely devoured, Fairy will wash up all 12,000 dirty cake plates with just one 870ml bottle of Fairy Original washing up liquid. The current record holder is held by King Abdulaziz International Airport in association with Saadeddin Pastry in Saudi Arabia, and measured 11.70metres by 9.20metres. It was in the shape of the Saudi Arabia map to celebrate the country's national day.
