A Game Of Thrones-themed pop-up restaurant is to open in London for the Valentine's weekend. A taste of Westeros will be on the menu for GoT fans seeking an alternative Valentine's Day plan as The Andaz Hotel in the capital's Liverpool Street is set to host "a one-of-a-kind epic banquet over three days".
The menu has been kept a closely guarded secret, but one dish has been revealed: "The Lies of Tyrion Lannister and his Proclaimed Innocence", or poached veal tongue with beetroot, horseradish and "Oldtown Mustard" is to be served at the hotel, where the likes of Beyoncé Knowles and Lady Gaga have stayed. For the weekend of 13 February, part of the stylish property is to be transformed into "the Red Keep", with the dinner themed around a "private, clandestine meeting of the Small Council in King's Landing".
Those to take a coveted place at the table will be the winners of a competition launched by HBO, which saw fans of the hugely popular series based on the fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin, name their favourite character and what they would cook to win their heart. According to the competition website, to celebrate the DVD/Bluray release of season 4 of the series, HBO has enlisted pop-up connoisseurs The Wandering Chef and Grosvenor Mixologists "to create a one-of-a-kind epic banquet taking place over three days".
"Throughout the evening, guests will sample the finest delicacies Westeros has to offer over multiple courses, accompanied by a carefully selected drinks menu of cocktails fit for a king," it promises.
