Choose fresh fruit instead of fruit juice

No matter how much fruit juice you consume in a day, it all still counts as only one portion of your five a day. But more worrying is that the more you have, the more you could be causing damage to your teeth’s protective enamel from all the acidity. A great alternative is consuming fresh fruit instead that will not only be kinder to your teeth, but is also richer in nutrients than fruit juice.

Sprinkle grated apple instead of sugar

Sugar is linked to dozens of health problems, so instead of using it to top your cereal or porridge, try grating a fresh apple and mixing this in instead. If you're not a fan of apples, try freshly sliced organic strawberries for a natural sweet fix that will be kinder to your blood sugar levels because of the fibre and cofactors contained.

Try 100 per cent coconut yoghurt instead of dairy-based yoghurts

Dairy products can cause digestive discomfort, so if you're struggling you may want to opt for coconut yoghurt instead – this can be easier to digest, not to mention it can leave your skin looking healthy and glowing.

Use coconut oil instead of butter

Some butter may contain traces of chemicals which can cause a hormonal imbalance, so try organically grown coconut oil for a healthier option – it's also safe to heat to high temperatures.

Ditch bottled water

Bottled water could be problematic for your health if the chemicals that make up the plastic affect the water itself – not to mention that wasted plastic bottles contribute to environmental pollution.
