Starbucks has sent customers wild with the launch of its limited edition Unicorn Frappuccino this week, with over 110,000 posts showing off the colourful iced drink on Instagram. Even Katy Perry has sipped on the magical-looking confection; but what exactly is in it and where is it available? We've got the lowdown…

What is a Unicorn Frappuccino and where is it available? A Unicorn Frappuccino is a vibrant pink and blue iced drink that tastes both sweet and sour depending on how you mix up the colourful syrups with your straw. It has proved hugely popular due to being incredibly Instagrammable and limited edition – it is only available between 19-23 April. The Unicorn Frappuccino is currently only available in limited Starbucks stores within the United States, Mexico and Canada until Sunday.

What is in it? It's safe to say the Unicorn Frappuccino isn't exactly healthy! This super-sweet confection is made with full fat milk and whipped cream, with mango syrup, sweet pink powder and sour blue drizzle. A medium-sized Unicorn Frappuccino contains 410 calories and a huge 59 grams of sugar – 19 grams more than the NHS advises adults to consume in a day.

How can I try one in the UK? Unfortunately the Starbucks drinks are not currently available in the UK, but the huge success of the magical beverage may convince bosses at the coffee chain to bring launch the limited edition drink worldwide.  A number of eager fans have taken to Twitter to share their disappointment that it isn't available in the UK, with one writing: "Really hope the #unicornfrappuccino comes to the UK because it looks like all of my dreams come true in a coffee cup."

Katy Perry shared a Snapchat video while drinking a Unicorn Frappuccino

What does a Unicorn Frappuccino taste like? This eye-catching drink is said to taste both sweet and sour, prompting mixed reactions from customers. While the response has been largely positive, some haven't been so keen on the drink's sour flavour, including Katy Perry. The singer shared a video of herself spitting out the drink on Snapchat, telling fans: "I couldn't handle drinking my own blood."
