Eva Longoria has served up the secret ingredient to her friend David Beckham's shepherd's pie, revealing the one condiment the footballer always uses.

Speaking on Table Manners with Jessie Ware, the Desperate Housewives actress revealed that it was David, and not his wife and Eva's BFF Victoria, who taught her how to make the crowd-pleasing dish.

Eva, 45, is a talented home cook herself and published Eva's Kitchen in 2011. The cookbook features recipes based on the food she had as a child, to dishes she encountered during her travels, as well as family meals she makes at home.

Eva spoke about her love of cooking on the podcast

Having grown up on a ranch eating locally sourced food, the Hollywood star believes that good cooking relies on local, fresh, easy-to-find ingredients.

"I have a cookbook. It was like a memoir of my life told through food and my travels around the world," Eva said on the podcast. "I love cooking. It's so therapeutic for me.

"Every time I land from a flight, whether it's from Texas to California which is only three hours, or if I'm landing from Dubai which is a 17-hour flight, the first thing I do is get in the kitchen and cook. It's the one thing that makes me feel at home.

"I cook everything from shepherd's pie to tacos. My go to, because of my husband, is chicken tacos. I make them in four minutes."
