The royal family carry out hundreds of public engagements every year for their charity work, and along the way, they are often presented with delicious cakes as gifts.

These aren't any ordinary cakes though – some of the sweet creations are on a huge scale and really take one's breath away. From seriously impressive cupcakes to vibrant colours and a few funny themes, we love seeing the royals' fabulous baked gifts. Take a look...

For the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

The royal couple were presented with the most amazing cupcake collection back in January 2020 on their visit to the Khidmat Centre in Bradford (see photo above). On top of each cake is an edible iced frame containing a photo of William and Kate. What a brilliant idea!

And we love this fun creation! Prince William was particularly taken with this cake featuring himself and wife Kate in his convertible blue car, which he drove to the annual October Club dinner in aid of the St Giles Trust in October 2012.

For the Queen

This beautiful tiered cake was given to Her Majesty by chef, Nadiya Hussain, winner of the Great British Bake Off, during her 90th Birthday Walkabout in Windsor.

For the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall

Wow, now that's a cake. In July 2019, Prince Charles and Camilla cut this specially commissioned cake inspired by the landscapes of the UK’s National Parks, during an official visit to Devon & Cornwall.

Another delicious-looking cake with a royal theme, complete with a crown! The picture was taken in 2016 in Oman when Camilla visited Etab Al-Zadjali's cake business stand during her royal tour.

This cake is so touching! The five-tiered lemon and Cornish elderflower sponge cake was made to represent the Duchess's wedding outfit by husband and wife Phil and Christine Jenson who run cake makers Peboryon in Cornwall.
