Supermodel Gisele Bundchen, this month’s US Vogue cover girl, delighted fans with an appearance at a New York department store for the magazine’s Fashion For America charity. The 21-year-old stunner arrived at the event casually dressed in jeans, and then went on to ask photographers, “Can you see my T-shirt?” as she shed her jacket to reveal her “Mended Heart” top, a special edition sold to raise money for the NY Twin Towers Fund.
The Brazilian beauty, who is featured in the fundraising shirt on the cover of the December issue of Vogue, chatted and posed for photos with every autograph hunter waiting in the queue that wound its way around the shop. Her promotion of the cause was obviously effective as the “Mended Heart” shirts – worn by a host of celebrities at October’s VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards – were flying off the shelves.
Gisele was kept busy signing the T-shirts, emblazoned with an American flag-printed broken heart sewn with a needle and thread, as well as copies of the special Vogue issue. “It was for a great cause,” Gisele told Fashion Wire Daily. “It was a good idea to give the December cover to promoting the charity. If everybody gives a little, it becomes a lot.”
