Voyage, the fashion label once so beloved by the world’s celebrities, is to go into liquidation after running up debts of around £3 million. The likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jade Jagger, Jemima Khan and Britney Spears had to be invited by the label’s eccentric owners, the Mazzilli family, for Voyage membership before they were allowed into the Fulham Road shop to peruse the racks of clothes.
“The company will go into liquidation today or at the latest tomorrow,” said Andrew Weston of liquidators Maidment Judd. “We are hoping the premises will continue trading and that we can find someone to take Voyage on as a company. It will be our job to find out why this has happened. Unfortunately, not everyone will be paid back in full.”
None of the Mazzillis, who have maintained an opulent lifestyle despite the company's troubles, were available for comment.
The label is best known for banning supermodel Naomi Campbell from the store, and her fellow celebrities Madonna and Julia Roberts were turned away after the shop assistants failed to recognise them.
