As though their cup does not runneth over already with the nomination itself, female Oscars stars will also be receiving a goodie bag filled with extravagant gifts – including a diamond-studded bra – in the run up to the ceremony.
The $5,000 underwear, which has 14K white gold straps holding 22 round white diamonds, is being sent out to nominees Halle Berry, Sissy Spacek, Judi Dench, Rene Zellweger and Nicole Kidman by saucy lingerie company Victoria’s Secret.
We wanted to do something special as a good luck charm,” says Victoria’s Secret spokeswoman Monica Mitro. “We thought, what could we give them that they didn’t already have.”
Asked whether she would be wearing her jewel encrusted undies, Judi Dench – nominated for a Best Actress gong for her role in Iris – replied “You bet!”.
In addition to their new bras, female nominees – and most of the gifts tend to go to actresses rather than actors – will also receive a top-of the-range Motorola mobile phone, not available to the hoi polloi until next month, and thousands of dollars worth of cosmetics.

A team of top LA beauticians, assembled by the cosmetics house, will offer everything from armpit Botox to hot lava rock massages. And as though that were not were not enough, the custom made suitcase in which the invitation arrives, also contains a pair of Manolo Blahnik sandals and a cashmere robe.
