Known for its trend-setting TV advertising, US clothing store The Gap has launched its summer collection with a set of stunning 30-second adverts with a cast of some of today’s hottest young Hollywood stars. Sultry British actress Kate Beckinsale and Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom are among the famous faces seen in the black and white “one-take” commercials, and there are some familiar names behind the cameras as well.
Jerry Maguire director Cameron Crowe makes his TV advertising debut directing Kate and Orlando’s romantic spot, and the Oscar winning Coen Brothers helmed the quirky clip featuring Easy Rider star Dennis Hopper and actress Christina Ricci playing a game of chess by the pool.
Up-and-comer Roman Coppola, the son of Francis Ford Coppola, directs fellow rising stars, including hunky Dude, Where’s My Car? actor Ashton Kutcher, in the stylish Down On Khaki Street which features a downtown bicycle ride.
Executive Vice President of Gap Global Marketing says the campaign “speaks to summer moments in simple, classic Gap style… and conveys a sense of summer that’s fun for everyone to imagine.” The three spots – slick productions shot to look like short films – are the brainchild of creative director Lisa Priscow, who developed the popular Gap ad campaigns Khakis Swing, Khakis Groove and Khaki Soul.
