Corsican-born model Laetitia Casta, the sultry model whose face was chosen to represent France’s national symbol “Marianne”, is to make a return to the fashion business after months out of the spotlight, following the birth of her daughter Sahtenne in October last year.

Twenty-four-year-old Laetitia has chosen the US agency IMG to represent her in New York, signing up heavy hitter Anne Nelson as her agent. A wise decision, since Anne already represents Gisele Bundchen, Elizabeth Hurley and Hilary Swank for endorsements.

Although Laetitia has cut back her modelling engagements of late, she certainly hasn’t been resting on her laurels. Over the past few years she has completed four movies, including the recently released Rue De Plaisirs. So whether the new deal means a return to the catwalk remains to be seen. Anne has told reporters that a return to the runway is not for certain.

“Runway? I don’t know. But editorial, definitely yes,” she says. Anne adds that Laetitia will continue with her acting career, and has plans to work with young French film-maker Damien Odoul. She also says that the model plans to divide her time between her homebase in London and New York, where her boyfriend and father of Sahtenne, photographer Stephane Sednaoui, is currently based.
