Thieves have broken into the £2 million home of Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson in London’s Notting Hill Gate, it emerged on Monday, making her the latest in a line of stars to fall prey to sophisticated robbers in the fashionable district.

It is believed the burglars beat an elaborate security system to break into the house which 38-year-old Elle, known as “The Body”, shares with Swiss banker Arpad Busson and their four-year-old son Arpad Flynn. The robbery happened on May 23, although police refused to say if the model was at home at the time and, at her request, would not reveal what was stolen.

“An investigation is being carried out by the Kensington and Chelsea police,” said a police spokesman. “There have been no requests and our inquiries are continuing.”

Police are not linking the robbery to other burglaries in the area. Last March £80,000 of jewellery was stolen from the home of ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and two years ago thieves broke into Madonna’s Notting Hill home and stole her then fiancé Guy Ritchie’s car.
