Not content with strutting their stuff on the catwalk, now models Karen Mulder and Kate Moss plan to storm the music charts.
After disappearing from the fashion world because of an emotional crisis Karen has bounced back with the release of her first single, a cover of disco diva Gloria Gaynor’s hit I Am What I Am. Such has been the success of the track in the European charts that the 30-something Dutch model is now in negotiations with Sony Records to release her first album.
Not to be outdone, British model Kate Moss has recorded a duet with Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, to be included on the band’s latest album Evil Heat. The 28-year-old model and mother-to-be has taped a version of the Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood track Some Velvet Morning for the album, which will be released in August. “
They have been friends since their clubbing days in the early 1990s,” said a spokeswoman for Primal Scream of their relationship with the model. “Kate has a really sweet voice and she is pretty rock ‘n’ roll, so it didn’t take much to persuade her even though it was Bobby’s idea originally.” It will be the second collaboration between Kate and the Scottish band – she previously starred in the video for their 1997 single Kowalski, although she didn’t get the chance to sing.
