Claudia Schiffer and new hubby Matthew Vaughn are expecting their first child, it was announced on Monday, two months after the couple married in a lavish English country wedding.
“We can confirm she is pregnant and has got through the first trimester,” Claudia’s London spokeswoman said. “Matt and Claudia are absolutely over the moon and think it’s great news.”
Claudia, 31, and Matt married on May 25 at an English country church near their Elizabethan manor house, Coldham Hall, in the picturesque village of Lawshall in Suffolk. The wedding, with celebrity guests such as Boris Becker and fashion designer Valentino, was shrouded in secrecy and covered exclusively by HELLO!.
The baby will be born into a life of luxury – the German supermodel has an estimated £50 million fortune and 31-year-old Matt is also a multi-millionaire.
Claudia, who remains to this day one of the most photographed women in the world, was discovered in a nightclub in the German city of Dusselfdorf, and went on to become one of the iconic models of the 1990s.
Matt is the producer behind the Guy Ritchie features Snatch and Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and was the director’s best man at his wedding to pop icon Madonna in 2000.
The couple met in Majorca in summer, 2000 when Claudia was engaged to gallery owner and socialite Tim Jeffries. After the two split up, the supermodel reportedly fell for Matt when he gave her a tortoise.
