Swimsuit aficionados from all over the globe descended on Miami last week, getting a sneak peek at the latest trends for next summer. The Swimwear Association of Florida’s annual cruise show is the largest event of its kind in the world, showcasing the latest collections in beachwear from design houses Gianfranco Ferré to Body Glove.
Models strutted down the runway in the hottest bikinis and bathing suits due to hit the beach in 2003, with collections showing there’s a swimsuit for every taste.
Sixties and Seventies-influence graphics are a common theme for the next summer season, along with Hawaiian prints, polka dots and stripes. Colours range from neon pinks and purples to deep crimson and navy blue, and unusual sheer and satin-finish fabrics – some with the appearance of faux leather – are seen in everything from bikinis to sarongs.
The Swimwear Association’s next display will take place in February – just in time to plan those springtime holidays.
