Claudia Schiffer was looking every inch the radiant mum-to-be when she and her husband Matthew Vaughn arrived in London after a trip to the States.

It was one of the first glimpses of the German supermodel since she and Matthew, who married in May, announced that they are already starting a family. Claudia’s news came at about the same time that fellow model Elle Macpherson revealed she was expecting her second child.

While Claudia prepares herself for first-time motherhood and plans the construction of a new estate on her beloved Majorca, it’s emerged that film producer Matthew also has some plans in the pipeline.

He is to team up with Madonna’s husband Guy Ritchie once again, this time to make a film adaptation of the J.J. Connolly novel Layer Cake. The book tells of a young man's attempt to extricate himself from London's gangster underworld, and while the project is still in the early stages, sources say filming could begin in and around London soon after Christmas.

It remains to be seen if there will be a part in the new production for Madonna, who was cast as a spoilt socialite who falls for a Communist sailor in Swept Away, written and directed by Guy and produced by Matthew. The film has garnered some less-than-favourable reviews and may go straight to video.
