The brainchild of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, the French fashion house’s sexy new “Floating Heel” sandal promises to set the latest trend in footwear, drawing the attention of fashionable famous names such as Kate Capshaw and Gwyneth Paltrow.
With a design that seems to be an engineering feat, the saucy numbers are split at the sole where the detached metal heel would normally meet the body of the shoe – thus adding 2cm to the heel’s height, and a layer of comfort for the stylish wearer. “It’s all about women walking on air… dancing,” says a Chanel spokesperson.
Chanel’s edgy new creation is now available in its ready-to-wear boutiques after the unusual stiletto made a splash at the spring couture collection. The closed-toe sandals, which feature an ankle-strap bow, come in satin and velvet kid as well as python at prices that range from $695 to $795.
