Supermodel Naomi Campbell added her own touch of glamour to London Fashion Week on Saturday, strutting her stuff in Julien Macdonald’s glittering barely-there creations.
The British beauty was apparently a last minute addition to friend Julien’s “Super Paradise” show, which featured a hot pink runway and – according to the designer – nearly £3 billion in jewellery from diamond firm Mouawad. “I had just arrived in LA when I got a call to do the show,” Naomi explained backstage. “So I got on a plane and came straight back to London.”
Naomi, who closed the show wearing a Swarovski crystal-studded swimsuit, was just one of the famous faces taking part in Fashion Week over the weekend. Jodie Kidd and Jasmine Guinness sported 1950s-inspired knits and strings of pearls at Pringle of Scotland’s first ever catwalk show, striking poses as fashionistas sipped their afternoon tea. Rolling Stone Ron Wood’s model daughter Leah took to the runway for Betty Jackson, while DJs Zoe Ball and Sarah Cox made appearances for the Mrs Jones label.
And the stars weren’t just on the catwalk – Elizabeth Hurley, Joely Richardson and Martine McCutcheon grabbed front row seats for the Julien Macdonald show, perusing possibilites for their Spring/Summer 2003 wardrobes. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jules decided to check out the newest offerings from Frost French, the label created by actress Sadie Frost, mother of five-day-old baby Rudy, and her design partner Jemima French.
