Holly Valance, Stella McCartney and Kylie Minogue were among those honoured at the 2002 Elle Style Awards in a glamorous ceremony at London’s National History Museum on Tuesday night.
Australian singing star Holly picked up the Wella Hot Look award, while her compatriot Kylie, currently enjoying an R&R break Down Under with her mum, landed the Woman Of The Year crown.
Diminutive Aussie vocalist Kylie was reported to have fled back to her homeland after suffering a nervous breakdown, but speaking at the awards ceremony her sister Dannii quashed such rumours. “Kylie has not had a nervous breakdown,” she insisted. Dannii did reveal, however, that her 34-year-old sibling remains devastated by her split with long-term boyfriend James Gooding.
“Kylie has had a lot of ups and downs this year. James has been one of her downs. Obviously, she’s very upset about splitting up, as they had been together for a long time. But marrying James was never on Kylie’s list of priorities, and neither was having kids with him.”
Also picking up a top gong was Stella McCartney, who was feted as the magazine’s Style Icon of the year. The 30-year-old fashion designer, variously described as being on the cutting-edge of style and a fashion disaster, lived up to her reputation for making audacious sartorial choices by opting to wear a pair of black leggings and stiletto heels under a drop-waisted black dress.
Also on the Style Awards winners list were model Jodie Kidd, international designer Marc Jacobs and band the Sugababes.
