Paul McCartney may be disappointed he missed his daughter Stella’s catwalk show in Paris for the first time on Monday, as the designer’s new sexy silhouettes earned her rave reviews.Front row spectator Sophie Ellis Bextor gave the thumbs up to Stella’s latest collection – “I’m pleased to see miniskirts so much because I like getting my pins out,” she remarked – and fashion critics praised creations that included chiffon minidresses, bubble skirts and oversized tops. The 30-year-old designer, who launched her own label with Gucci last year, revealed she’s trying to be “more relaxed” with the new collection. “It was time for me to move on from floaty, hippy trippy stuff,” she tells Fashion Wire Daily. “Basically it’s me going back to my roots, designing things I want to wear.”

In fact, the shimmering gowns that appeared at the end of the show are “ideas for my ‘going away’ dress” said Stella, a reference to her rumoured nuptials with boyfriend Alasdhair Willis. Talk of a wedding was sparked after dad Paul pulled out of a prestigious US award ceremony taking place early December, saying it clashed with a family event.

Though he’s been a front row staple for all her collections, Macca was notably absent from Monday’s show. The reason, says Stella, is that the rock icon is simply busy. “He’s on tour,” explained the designer, quipping: “He has a job, too, you know!”
