Veteran designer Zandra Rodes, whose brilliantly coloured creations have found favour with clients as diverse as Princess Diana and Bianca Jagger in the Eighties, is once more back at the forefront of fashion.
The vermilion-haired 62-year-old has collaborated with high-street retailer Topshop to create an addition to the firm's portfolio of designer collections. Her new line will be available in store from November.
"We went to Top Shop because we loved our current collection so much," explained Zandra. "Kelly Osborne wore one of my vintage dresses to the Emmy Awards and Kylie had also bought one, so we thought it was the right time."
And the youth fashion marque jumped at the opportunity. "I'm fascinated by the idea of introducing someone from back then to our customers and can't wait to see 18-year-olds wearing Zandra's stuff, " says Topshop brand director Jane Shepherdson.
The retail chain has focused on two prints in four different colourways and seven styles. And, despite production and price restrictions – items come in under £100 – the new designs remain close to Zandra's original creations.
