Luxury luggage manufacturer Louis Vuitton opted for full-on exotic theming for its amFar event on Thursday night to promote the launch of its new watch in conjunction with the opening of a new private party space in New York's the Bowery.
Guests including Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst, Lauren Hutton, Wyclef Jean and Esther Cañadas, were entertained by musicians from around the world. Taiwanese musicians played percussion, while African steel-drum players and a Brazilian rhythms outfit added their own sounds at the new venue, Capitale.
To help party goers get in the mood before the international music fest, there were performances by acrobats dangling from the 50-foot ceilings and other live acts. And if the celeb guests fancied a quieter moment, they could retreat upstairs to the VIP area to sip a cocktail and nibble on caviar hors d'oeuvres.
The new bar-cum-party area is in the converted former Bowery Savings bank – designed and built by McKim, Mead and White, the creators of the Big Apple's famous public library – and is expected to rival the downtown Cipriani.
