The annual Victoria's Secret runway show is set to take centre stage in New York on Thursday, with catwalk stars such as Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum expected to display the lingerie company's latest line.
Supermodel Heidi sums up the event as: "Lots of beautiful women… very little clothing!" – but strutting your stuff in nothing more than a bra and panties can apparently be quite nerve wracking, said models during the show's fitting this week.
"Anytime you wear underwear and expose a lot you get nervous in front of all the people who are watching the show," said Brazilian supermodel Michelle Alves as she tried on flowered bustiers and metallic corsets. "And you have the responsibility of doing well because you want to do a second show."
"It never gets any better," admitted Heidi, who brought her parents along as she arrived for the fitting. "It's my fifth time and I still get nervous."
However, Victoria's Secret beauty Gisele takes a practical view, pointing out it doesn't take much to get ready for the glittering occasion. Says the supermodel: "My preparation is just to wake up in the morning, take a shower, and go to work!"
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which also features musical performances from Destiny's Child, Phil Collins and Marc Anthony, will be televised in the US on November 20.
