Menswear catwalks are usually graced by the square jawlines, rippling muscles and smouldering rugged looks of – well, men. But at this year's Autumn-Winter collections in Milan, designers Dolce & Gabbana took a decidedly different approach, sending a pair of ultra-feminine supermodels down the runway in their latest masculine creations.
Club music and a wind machine added to the drama as Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell gave a woman's touch to the military look which dominated the Italian duo's collection on Sunday. Wonderbra model Eva nearly upstaged a perfectly-cut men's coat by sporting a see-through negligée underneath, while sexy Naomi showed off an olive green parka worn over a belly-baring bustier.
Of course, what would men's fashion week be without the guys strutting their stuff? And Dolce & Gabbana's male models did just that, displaying the label's multi-pocketed parachute trousers, khaki jackets and padded parkas with aplomb.
Other collections presented on the first day of Milan Men's Fashion Week included Burberry, Costume National and Jil Sander. The event will come to a close this Thursday, January 16.
