Though he made few comments during his wife Claudia Schiffer's pregnancy, film producer Matthew Vaughn couldn't help but express his happiness just hours after the supermodel gave birth to the couple's first baby on Thursday. Speaking from the hospital's maternity room he said: "Claudia and I are over the moon. It may be a cliché, but we're beyond thrilled."
"There are no words," he told the Daily Mirror. "I've always listened to first-time parents banging on about their new babies and thought they sounded like idiotic monosyllabic morons. And now here I am sounding like an idiotic monosyllabic moron. It just renders you speechless."
The proud papa described his newborn son as "great… a fantastic little chap", and couldn't resist adding: "I hope he'll have his mother's looks and his father's business acumen."
Matthew also had loving words for his wife, who was seen looking gorgeous as she left her London flat for hospital Thursday morning. "(She's) radiant, beautiful, amazing," he said.
The Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels producer began dating Claudia in 2000 after meeting her at an LA party, and married the model in a Suffolk village church last May. "My life has been like a fairytale in the last couple of years," he says, "and this is the icing on the cake, it really is."
