Celebrity milliner Cozmo Jenks's trendy hats, worn by the likes of Kylie Minogue, Leah Wood and headgear king Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, will soon be available to a broader fan base.
The 29-year-old designer's spring/summer collection will be available at London department store Selfridges. There are 20 handmade hats featuring touches such as Swarovski crystals, ribbons and flower designs in the collection, with each piece retailing for between £365 and £800. "I'm so thrilled about Selfridges," she told Fashion Wire Daily. "They are rocking and this will really help broaden my business."
It's also a logical step forward for Cozmo, who started making hats for her mum and friends and then, she says, "Things just started growing." She's come a long way since her first creation for pal Jodie Kidd's mum, designing nearly six dozen head-turning hats for last summer's Royal Ascot event. "She's the one to watch," says Selfridges accessories director Anne Berkeley. "(Her hats) are very eccentric, very fun, but not too complicated."
The popular UK shop already carries designs from high-end hatmakers Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones. "They are geniuses, truly clever," she says of her two design colleagues. But, she adds: "I'm a girl, and they do heady, abstract art which is amazing, but I'm different. I just want to make something girly and beautiful."
