Former supermodel Christy Turlington can count on an equally famous escort to accompany her down the aisle at her wedding this weekend. Because U2 frontman Bono has agreed to give her away when she marries actor beau Ed Burns in San Francisco on Saturday.
The enduring rock star will also perform at the couple's reception party once they have made their vows. And with a host of fashion world heavyweights in attendance, it looks set to be one of the most glamorous events of the year.
Ed and Christy were originally to wed in October 2001, but they decided to postpone their nuptials in the wake of the September 11 attacks. They later broke up altogether, with Ed dating Caprice Bourret for a while, before winning Christy back.
The couple rescheduled the ceremony to July of this year, but decided they were so keen to become man and wife they would move the date closer.
