Nearly two years after they first planned to wed, on-off couple Christy Turlington and Ed Burns finally made their vows in an ultra-private ceremony on Saturday.

The 34-year-old model wore a gown by Christian Dior designer John Galliano as she tied the knot with the Hollywood actor-director at Saints Peter and Paul's Church in San Francisco. U2 front man Bono reportedly walked the bride down the aisle, filling in for Christy's late dad, who passed away from cancer two years ago.

A reception at the nearby Asian Art Museum followed, where the intimate group of guests – said to include veteran vocalist Sting and XXX star Vin Diesel – helped the happy couple celebrate their new life together.

The road to the altar was a long one for the photogenic couple, who met three years ago. Months after buying a home in New York, Christy and Ed split in March, 2002 with friends explaining the two "weren't each other's perfect life partners". However, romance blossomed once again seventh months later, and plans for a fairytale wedding soon followed.
