LISA BUTCHER SHOWS A SLINKY NEW SIDE TO HARDY AMIES

The late Hardy Amies was known for the elegant, conservative outfits he designed for the Queen. But the new collection being released under his name looks set to raise royal eyebrows, as it includes some rather more daring numbers.

Model Lisa Butcher posed in front of the Amies store in Saville Row to launch the new range. And one Ian Garlant creation, complete with short skirt and see-though sequined body, seemed rather more risqué than the designs we normally associate with the label.

Lisa also modelled long velvet-skirted evening gown with a flatteringly panelled body, from the forthcoming autumn/winter collection.

Hardy Amies died earlier this year at the age of 93. The debonair courtier, who famously said “day clothes must look equally good at Salisbury station as the Ritz bar", had become known as the Queen's favourite designer. He received the Royal Warrant in 1952 and designed innumerable outfits for Her Majesty in the course of the following 50 years.
