British design legend John Galliano has set the fashion world dancing with a stunning new collection in Paris. A racetrack on the outskirts of the French capital played host to the show, which was undoubtedly Christian Dior's most risqué to date.

The new range, which was inspired by different dance styles from around the world, comprised everything from pastel tutus to ballerina's corsets and showgirls' feather headdresses.

Front row guests including Liz Hurley and Jack Nicholson applauded as a sexy tango dancer, clad in skin-tight satin, strode down the catwalk. She was followed by supermodel Karolina Kurkova, whose rhinestone bustier and knickerbockers wouldn't have looked out of place in Moulin Rouge.

"I danced with some Indian children and suddenly I saw familiarities with flamenco dance, so I studied the whole theme of how dance influenced the world," revealed the designer. "Then we though we'd create our own dance costumes."

Jack Nicholson, who is currently filming in Paris, could barely contain his excitement over the colourful creations. "I loved the show, I love all his collections," he enthused. "And those girls move, they just move so beautifully – the flamenco thing was so hot."

As ever with Mr Galliano, "hot" was indeed the order of the day. A succession of models adorned with black lipstick and ostrich feathers took to the runway in everything from spider-weave straps to tracksuit tops. A set of four-inch Oxfords even caused one of them to collapse on the catwalk.

But LVMH boss Bernard Arnault looked rather more irritated by the indiscretion of another leggy beauty at the event, when Liz Hurley sneaked into the show half way through.
