One of the most glamorous haute couture fashion weeks in Paris in recent memory saw the return of Naomi, Linda and Helena to the runway and a bevy of A-list celebs, including Liz Hurley, Kylie Minogue and Gwyneth Paltrow seated front row and centre.
Shakespeare In Love star Gwyneth took a respite from being on tour with her musician boyfriend Chris Martin to check out friend Valentino's collection, going from a supporting role in the rock world to the distinctly different monde of fashion.
"Oh, god, it's such a change to come back to all of this," said the actress, who was joined by her mum Blythe Danner. "But I love it, I love Valentino."
Another fan of the Italian couturier is supermodel Naomi Campbell, who strutted her stuff for the Valentino presentation, following in the footsteps of her fellow fashion icons Helena Christensen, who strode the runway for Ungaro, and Linda Evangelista, who capped off the Chanel collection in a stunning bridal gown. And while Kylie was front row at the Chanel show, it was the name of another Aussie beauty which was on the lips of many – Nicole Kidman, who is reportedly set to take on a new role the face of the chic label. However, the French fashion house's chief designer Karl Lagerfeld was tight-lipped on the subject, saying only: "It's not a done deal, so I can't tell you anything." But it was clear the flamboyant designer thinks the statuesque Oscar-winner would be a welcome addition to Chanel. "She's the best of the best," he declared.
The faces of another fashion firm, Lancôme, meanwhile, gathered to celebrate the launch of its latest fragrance. The cosmetic company's glamour girls Elizabeth Jagger and Ines Sastre were joined by catwalk queen Eva Herzigova for the star-studded bash to present "Attraction".
