Supermodel Kate Moss, fed up with "pretty pictures" of herself, has posed for full-frontal nude shots in an issue of a fashion glossy, and has even agreed to have the usual airbrushing set aside for the layout.
Fashion snapper Chuck Close revealed that the veteran catwalk queen and new mother-of-one had no problem passing on touch-ups of the photographs, featured in the September issue of W. "My daguerreotypes are not flattering – any flaws on one's complexion are exaggerated wildly," he said. "I thought she might be upset, but she said, 'I've had enough pretty pictures made of me'."
Kate seems to have cemented her international star status with the spread, which is part of a full 40-page portfolio of stunning pictures of the former waif. The magazine has distributed the issue with nine different covers, shot by various photographers, with the headline "The Triumphant Return Of A Superstar".
W creative director Dennis Freeman explained the reasoning behind choosing Kate as the subject of the extensive feature. "Kate has been our muse… for the simple reason that there are so many aspects to her personality," he said. "She's a woman, she's a child, she's a tomboy, she's very sexual, she's smart, she's funny, she's good, she's bad. She's probably one of the most beautiful, ordinary-looking women and that makes her interesting."
