New York Fashion Week kicked off to a glamorous start this weekend, with a slew of celebs – including Robert Redford and Beyonce Knowles – taking front row seats and style queens such as Heidi Klum, Alek Wek and Naomi Campbell hitting the catwalks.

Legendary actor Robert Redford checked out the neutral-toned urban gear at Kenneth Cole, while Beyonce was spotted eyeing up pop diva creations for Gianfranco Ferre and sexy swimwear at Rosa Cha.

The Brazilian designer's hot spring-summer collection was sported by a roster of top models, including Ana Beatriz Barros and British beauty Naomi. The presentation's celebrity-packed audience included Ivana Trump, Cuba Gooding Jr, Tyson Beckford and Beyonce's beau, rapper Jay-Z.

Meanwhile, Naomi had another celebrity connection as fashion week continued, starring in the runway show for Jennifer Nicholson, the designing daughter of Oscar-winner Jack Nicholson.

As fellow cover girl Heidi Klum strutted her stuff for Imitation of Christ, another famous beauty was strictly off-duty. Model-turned-photographer Helena Christensen examined British designer Luella Bartley's colourful creations from the front row, with her young son Mingus at her side.

It was also a family affair at Kimora Lee Simmons' Baby Phat presentation. Though there were an array of big names - including Venus Williams, Seal and fashion favourite Beyonce - at the event, the real stars of the show seemed to be Kimora's two children, who joined the designer on the runway as she took her bow.
