Asprey brings a touch of British glamour to NYC

It may have been a New York party, but the opening of Asprey's new flagship store in Manhattan was a very British affair. A host of the UK's best-loved celebs turned out for the event, including the Duchess of York and actress Natasha Richardson.

It was teenager Keira Knightley who stole the show, however, in a striking red and white dress and black hat. And it was little surprise that the Pirates Of The Caribbean star was on the guestlist, as she recently signed up as the company's "spokesmodel".

"We cannot think of anyone more appropriate to represent us than Keira," said a representative for the retailer. "Her beauty and style complement the new world of Asprey perfectly."

The firm is hoping that its new store will find just as much success in the US as British actors. The company, which specialises in jewellery and luxury products from the UK, has become synonymous with up-market English glamour.

Victoria and David Beckham, who came to Asprey for their matching wedding rings, are regular visitors. And customers from years gone by have included Richard Burton, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and Princess Diana.
