Though she's named after a city synonymous with fashion, hotel heiress Paris Hilton has topped a roster that's infamous for its less-than-flattering assessments of celebrity style – Mr Blackwell's Worst-Dressed List.
The saucy blonde outdid a pair of pop divas – Madonna and Britney Spears, who tied for second place in the countdown – to grab the number one spot on the 44th annual ranking, compiled by the outspoken fashion guru Mr Blackwell.
It seems her penchant for skin-baring numbers and neon hues earned her a place on the list. "Grab the blinders, here comes Paris," said the fashion critic of the 22-year-old celeb, who has gained further fame through her TV role on reality show hit The Simple Life.
Though Mr Blackwell, known for his biting assessment of celebrity style, criticises the unusual sartorial choices of a number of famous females – Shania Twain, Missy Elliott, Celine Dion and Diane Keaton included – he also heaps praise on the best-dressed women in show biz.
Nicole Kidman, Diane Lane and Salma Hayek all made his best-dressed list for 2003, a year in which, he admits, celebrity style has vastly improved. "Unlike years past," he says, "coming up with Ten Titans Of Fashion Terror was much harder than usual."
